Him Who Is Able

Scripture – Jude 24
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,

Observation
Who is the “Him”? Verse 25 tells us it’s our God and Savior, which is of course Jesus. Who is able to keep/prevent/protect us from stumbling/falling down? He is. Who is able to present/establish us before the presence of God? Jesus is. Who does it with joy? Jesus does.

Application
One might ask, “If God is able to do these things, why doesn’t He just do it?” Well, the second part of the “able” is in the future, in Heaven. The first part would be as we walk here on Earth. He is able, be we have to submit/surrender to Him. My wife and I will sometimes run errands together. I usually drive. She is able to drive, but only one of us can drive the car at any given time. I would have to let her get in the drivers seat and drive (sometimes I do!). Jesus is able to keep me from stumbling but only when I’m deliberately letting Him “drive” my life. He is the only one who is able.

Prayer
Lord, I am not able. Forgive me for the times when I think I am, when I think I can handle it on my own and I clearly cannot. Remind me to take up my cross daily, to die to myself, and follow you down paths where I won’t stumble. Thank you Jesus.
