Women’s Disciple Study – The Pursuit of Holiness

Women’s discipleship is starting a new study come April 7th. We are going to be reading the book “The pursuit of Holiness” by Jerry Bridges.

I believe that everything God does and all that He is stems from His holiness. God is perfect in holiness, absolutely morally pure. Everything He does is right and just, His holiness is never compromised nor could it ever be for He is God, perfect in all His ways.

The title alone speaks of what we must do, we must pursue holiness. We have been called by God to “Be holy, for I am holy.” Holiness is something we are and something we must do. In Christ we are seen as holy and in right standing with God but it doesn’t end there. We are called to live a life of holiness. We have been set apart by God to live a holy life, separate and different from the world. This holy living can only be done through the indwelling life of the Holy Spirit. In Christ we “are” holy and by His Spirit we can and must also “Be” holy. We must demonstrate outwardly in our daily lives who we are inwardly, a new creation in Christ.

During the next few months as we dive into this book on God’s holiness I pray that our hearts will be stirred to live as we have been called. I pray that we will take a more serious look at this command to “Be holy” and with all diligence pursue it. God’s holiness is our standard so therefore that is where we must begin.
