Its Monday, we must be in Italy. If my memory serves me right, this was a funny movie about people on a tour bus in Europe. Each day they were in a different country or city. Therefor, its Monday, we must be in….
I was listening to a teaching cd about politics and religion this morning while pedaling my bike that goes nowhere, certainly not to Italy. It was reiterated over and over again, the importance of praying for our leaders. Our President and all those connected with our government.
My first thought? Even more time spent in prayer. I have a hard enough time as it is and I’m not always consistent or as faithful as I should be.
Jesus did however, command us to pray without ceasing and to do it with a thankful heart. Did He mean we are to pray 24/7? Well, yes, in a way. We all have opportunities through out the day, when the Lord prompts us to pray for someone or something. The trick is to stay tuned to God’s hot line.
So, how can we who are busy, some more than others, add one more person or prayer need to our already full prayer list?
There are seven days in a week. Divide things up. I think Corby gave us a list once, quite a while back and of course I misplaced it and soon forgot all about it. It is a very good idea though and something we all can do.
Here are some things that could make up a prayer list and I’m sure you have ideas of your own.
Persecuted Church
Missions
Israel
The President and government leaders by name
Families and Friends
Our Pastor and family
Our Elders and their families
Each other
The lost that make up the world around us
Prayer changes things in a big way if we are faithful to just do it, each and every day.
So, its Monday, I should be praying for….
I found these scriptures on prayer. They are but a few amongst many.
3 John 2: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
Psalm 5:2-3: Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, for to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.
Psalm 55:16-17: As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.
1 Thess. 5:16-19: Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit.
God bless you all and have a great week, and please, pray for me, as I will for you.
