The Vibe
A church is simply an assembly of people. Real, regular people. Because of this we prefer a very casual atmosphere. Whatever is normal for you to wear on an everyday basis is fine with us. We have coffee and some goodies we all enjoy, or feel free to bring in your own. During the Bible study you can sit in a chair or at one of the tables that are set up (gotta have a place to put your mocha, right?).
The Worship
Music has been a way for people to express emotion and devotion for centuries. That's what worship is; singing your heart out to God. Through these centuries musical style has changed. At one time in history, Bach was considered contemporary, modern Christian music. Now his stuff is considered to be ancient and old fashioned. But the content of the music still expresses heartfelt and sincere emotion towards God. So we see that there is a difference between content and style. At The Exchange, we enjoy the modern sounds of Chris Tomlin, Third Day, David Crowder, Brett Williams, and Paul Baloche. These God-gifted musicians write their own stuff in addition to bringing the classic hymns of the church to life with a fresh, modern sound.
The Bible Study
The church isn't just Sunday mornings. At least it isn't supposed to be. Having said that, Sunday morning is the time we come together as a large group. Since we are all together we take advantage of the opportunity by worshipping together and studying God's word. We take the Bible seriously. From Genesis to Revelation, it's all God's word. Because of this, the bulk of our time together is dedicated to getting into God's word and getting God's word into us. What does it teach us about God, about the world, and about ourselves? Most importantly, how do we live it? "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2.
For the Kids
During worship we keep our kids with us. We like to have them see the example of their parents worshipping the Lord so that they can learn to do the same. Once worship is over we dismiss the kids to their own classes. Nursery through 5th grade have classes available to them during the Bible study, but we won’t make you take your kids out if you don’t want to. Our desire for our kids is that they too learn how to walk with the Lord and have their own relationship with Jesus.
